STEAM Sunday: Guided Animal Drawing – WonderLab, Bloomington, IN

On the fourth Sunday of each month, STEM becomes STEAM when we add Art and Design to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Join us for our first STEAM Sunday Science of Art guided drawing class featuring one of WonderLab’s very own animal ambassadors: Norbert the blue tongued skink! Draw along and build up your observational drawing skills while you discover and experiment with various techniques to create different textures and colors. Also, learn all about Norbert’s incredible adaptations. This is a great opportunity for the whole family or group to explore art and science as well as develop STEM skills such as defining & problem solving, exploring cause & effect, and the collaborative process. This program is made possible through funding from Cook Medical. and CFC Properties. Materials are not necessary, but if you want to draw during the program, please bring drawing utensils (crayons, colored pencils, or a pencil), paper, and your powers of observation

NOTE: Our STEM Sunday sessions are moving to a 30 minute program for the month of February, instead of an hour long program.

STEM Sunday: Animation – WonderLab, Bloomington, IN

Join WonderLab educators for STEM Sunday and work together on a project for the whole family. This STEM Sunday we are looking at the history and science of animation. We will create some early animation tools including thaumatropes and zoetropes. We will also share resources to learn more about modern animation, including the tutorials from Pixar in a Box. Here are some of the suggested supplies to gather from your house (no problem if you don’t have some of these): round container such as a pie pan, dark paper, computer paper, scissors, tape, and a writing utensil. This is a great opportunity for the whole family or group to explore the engineering design process as well as develop STEM skills such as defining & problem solving, exploring cause & effect, and the collaborative process. This program is made possible through funding from Cook Medical. and CFC Properties.
