CASA to Begin Advocate Training

Monroe County CASA begins its fall advocate training on October 18th. CASA is short for court appointed special advocates. CASAs advocate in the courts on behalf of juveniles who have been subjected to abuse or neglect. Jim Shelton is a member of the Monroe County CASA’s Board of Trustees. Monroe County Habitat for Humanity to Receive 14 Acres

This morning, Monroe County Commissioners approved an agreement to transfer 14 acres of the county’s Thomson property to Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County. The property, located off South Rogers Road, will be the site of an affordable housing development. County Attorney Jeff Cockerill, said the land transfer will come in two stages.
