Monroe County Thoroughfare Plan Finalized

The Monroe County Commissioners have approved the final draft of the 2018 Monroe County Master Thoroughfare Plan. Public Works Director Lisa Ridge presented the planning document in the commissioners’ December 12 meeting. Monroe County adopted its first Master Thoroughfare Plan in 1995. City Considers Tearing Down, Repairing Fourth St. Garage

The city of Bloomington is looking to consultants to help decide whether to rebuild or repair the aging, downtown Fourth Street garage. The Bloomington Redevelopment Commission last night approved contracting with CORE Planning Strategies to examine the question. Monroe County Habitat for Humanity to Receive 14 Acres

This morning, Monroe County Commissioners approved an agreement to transfer 14 acres of the county’s Thomson property to Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County. The property, located off South Rogers Road, will be the site of an affordable housing development. County Attorney Jeff Cockerill, said the land transfer will come in two stages. City Considering 4th Street Garage Replacement

A recent report from structural engineers is prompting Bloomington officials to consider rebuilding the Fourth Street garage. Bloomington’s Public Works Director Adam Wason told the Board of Public Works on Tuesday,the garage is over 30 years old, but was expected to have a 50-year lifespan.
