46,000 Lose Power Across South Central Indiana

Residences and businesses across South Central Indiana lost power this afternoon. Duke Energy reported an estimated 46,000 customers affected by the outage- 15,000 of those in Monroe County, and another 6,000 across Lawrence and Bartholomew counties. Many traffic lights in downtown Bloomington are offline and downtown businesses were without power for four hours, including Bloomington City Hall. Power was out …

IU To Demo Crosstown Plaza

Indiana University will be redeveloping Crosstown Plaza, on 10th street in Bloomington. The plaza is home to several local businesses, including Lennie’s Restaurant and Pub, Pizza X, Soma, and the 10th Street Market. IU Medicine Accused of Lab Animal Abuse, Deaths

The IU School of Medicine is being implicated in the death of at least 116 animals and the injury of dozens more. The animal-rights group Stop Animal Exploitation Now, or SAEN, obtained 17 non-compliance reports sent from School of Medicine officials to the National Institute of Health’s Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare. According to the reports, the animals died due to …
