JD Ford is Indiana’s First Openly-Gay Legislator

On Tuesday, voters in Indiana elected the state’s first openly gay legislator. Democrat J.D. Ford defeated Republican state Senator Mike Delph in a district which includes parts of Indianapolis and Carmel. Ford also turned 36 on Tuesday, making him one of the youngest legislators in Indiana. High Voter Turnout in Monroe County Spurs Ballot Shortage

Nearly 60 percent of registered voters in Monroe County cast ballots in yesterday’s midterm election. That’s despite several polling places in Monroe County running out of ballots.
