“Get to Know the Show”: Theatre Brown County, Brown County Playhouse, 70 S. Van Buren St., Nashville, Indiana

The ball is rolling! We will have a “Get to know Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike” meeting at the Playhouse at 6:00 PM on Monday, June 7th. This meeting is open to any and all who are interested in the relaunch of Theatre Brown County as a community theater. Even if you are just curious about what TBC will be, please attend and have your questions answered.

We’ll briefly touch upon what our concept of an all volunteer community theater is, how we intend to hold open auditions (no pre-casting), what the volunteer and learning opportunities are, and what areas we could use assistance with in putting on our first relaunch production.

We’ll introduce everyone to the Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike production, including a quick slide show of a previous production where we will discuss the play’s plot, set, costuming, and some of the character traits.

Finally we’ll briefly discuss the audition process for a community theater, and what we will be looking for in the 6 actors in the show.

Bloomington Community Book Fair, to benefit the Hoosier Hills Food Bank, Monroe County Fairgrounds, 5700 W. Airport Road, Bloomington

The book fair features over 100,000 items – books and much more. There are specialty areas with large collections of children’s books, rare and collectible “better books,” horror and science fiction books, games and puzzles, comics, stamps and coins, and a big media section with DVDs, CDs, records, and tapes all at great, low prices. There will also be programs and food trucks throughout the week.

We accept gently used books, CDs, DVDs, records, games and puzzles at the Hoosier Hills Food Bank Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m (2333 W. Industrial Park Dr). For more information, please call (812) 334-8374 or e-mail Ryan at [email protected].

We are honored to be the home of this beloved community event. For more than 30 years, we’ve promoted a message of sustainability – that too much food is wasted and should instead be channeled to people at risk of hunger. In many ways, the same is true of used books. We can’t afford to be a throwaway society – not with food, not with books and certainly not with people.

Bring a canned food donation for a $1 book buck coupon!
