City to Demolish Griffy Lake Water Plant

City of Bloomington Utilities plans to demolish its old Griffy Lake water plant. Capital Projects Manager Mike Hicks told the Utilities Service Board last night a recent investigation revealed asbestos at the plant. The Griffy water treatment plant was built in 1925 but went out of use in 1996. Veit Environmental conducted the asbestos investigation. Hicks assured Commission member Jason …

City Council Considering Hospital Site Plans

The Bloomington City Council reviewed and voiced unanimous approval for a purchase agreement for the IU Hospital site on Second Street. The city’s corporation counsel, Phillipa Guthrie, said the city has already signed a letter of intent to buy the 24 acre site from IU Health for six and a half million dollars.
