Homefield Advantage: The Kick Was Good

Play

Connor Hitchcock started Homefield Apparel in his Bloomington apartment, selling homemade stickers to stores in Indianapolis. While still in school he started printing T-shirts and caught the eye of Indiana University professor John Talbott, who became an early investor in Homefield. When IU suffered a controversial loss to Duke in the 2015 Pinstripe Bowl, Connor printed a shirt that went viral, rocketing Hitchcock’s brand to a major player in sports merchandise with over 200 university licenses. The Cignetti era of IU football has poured gasoline on his fire and Homefield opened its first brick-and-mortar store in 2025, on Kirkwood Avenue in downtown Bloomington. Recently the New York Times covered Connor’s rags-to-riches story.
