Indiana University is partnering with Naptown Media to film a documentary titled Are We Safer Today? at IU Auditorium. Audience members are invited to witness this historic filming.

In this documentary, members of the 9/11 Commission will explore how well their extensive recommendations for American security have been implemented with an eye to Are We Safer Today?

The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (the 9/11 Commission) was the last bipartisan commission created to advise the federal government. Commissioners spent almost two years interviewing more than 1,200 people in 10 countries.

Now, two decades after the Commission’s report was issued, Are We Safer Today? will tackle an evaluation of how well the federal government has implemented the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission. Featuring Chairman Tom Kean and Vice Chairman Lee Hamilton, Are We Safer Today? will probe the critical elements of the Commission’s findings and interview major figures to assess the impact on national security today.

Are We Safer Today? is open to IU students, faculty and staff, and members of the general public. Filming will occur in three segments, each lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes. The filming times are 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. EDT.

Doors to IU Auditorium will open 30 minutes before each filming. They will close approximately five minutes before filming begins and will not reopen until the filming segment ends. Audience members will not be allowed to leave the auditorium until the filming segment ends. In accordance with university COVID-19 protocol, IU instructs all individuals to wear a mask inside buildings on campus.

Given that the event is being filmed, there will not be any audience Q&A or other interactive component.
