Spencer Resisted Superfund Designation, Due To ‘Economic Stigma’

The town of Spencer resisted being named a Superfund site by the EPA. According to EPA documents obtained by WFHB, Spencer officials pushed back on the EPA’s designation, due to fears that being named a Superfund site would negatively affect property values. City Floats Ban on Addiction Treatment

The city of Bloomington is proposing a ban on new addictions treatment facilities. The drafted ordinance would place a moratorium on the further development of rehab facilities within city limits. According to a press release from the city, the ordinance was written after meeting with representatives from for-profit and non-profit treatment centers in the Bloomington area.
