The Farmers’ Market is typically associated with summer, or at least not the extreme cold of severe winter weather we are currently experiencing. But did you know Bloomington has a WINTER farmers’ market? The oldest one in the state, actually. The Bloomington Winter Farmers’ Market runs on Saturdays November to March, inside the pavilion building at Switchyard Park. Leftover produce is purchased at a discounted rate by the Farm to Family Fund then donated to local food banks and pantries. We speak with market vendor Kobe Thompson from Cedar Creek Farm, Bloomington Winter Farmers’ Market manager Lisa Goch, and Applerose Bakery owner Jennifer Burt who also serves as president of the winter market board.

Produced by Elizabeth Noble in partnership with The Media School at Indiana University. Theme music by Seth Makes Sounds.
