Amanda Barge Speaks Out Against Allegations

Monroe County Commissioner Amanda Barge spoke out this morning against allegations of sexual harassment made against her last week. Former county government contractor Brandon Drake accused Barge of harassment in a March 26th article in the Indiana Daily Student. Monroe County Dems Elect First Black Leader

The Monroe County Democratic Party elected the first person of color to lead the party, on Sunday. Jennifer Crossley beat out Penny Githens in a close vote during party elections at the Nat U. Monroe County Commissioners Make Herstory

Record numbers of women were elected to office in 2018. In Monroe County, Lee Jones, Julie Thomas, and Amanda Barge comprise the first all-women county government in Indiana. The Monroe County Board of Commissioners met for the first time in 2019, this morning. Thomas, who serves on WFHB’s Board of Directors, said the Commission will host a celebration next week.
