Fed Shutdown Cuts Off Food Stamps

On Friday,  585,000 food stamp beneficiaries in Indiana were told they will not receive food stamps next month. The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration announced they will be distributing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits early this month. Food Stamp Cuts Would Leave Locals Ineligible, Hungry

The U.S. House of Representatives struck down the first draft of the Federal Farm bill, yesterday. The bill, which is rewritten every four years, provides subsidies and insurance to farmers and agricultural businesses.
