The Metropolitan Planning Organization Meeting began at 1:30pm this afternoon and was still in progress at the time our scripts went to print. Public comment in support and against the Transportation Improvement Plan was opened to attendees, and then commission members responded. The final vote on the TIP — which revolves around the budget for developing interstate sixty nine through Monroe County — was conducted just before 5:30 and the TIP passed 7-6. No votes included Bloomington Mayor Mark Kruzan and county commissioner Mark Stoops. Those in favor of the plan include Bill Williams, director of the highway department, and Patrick Murray the Chair of the Citizens Advisory Committee.
