The City of Bloomington Police Department is investigating two stabbings, one of which was fatal, which took place in the early hours of this morning. At 2:46 this morning, officers from the Police Department responded to a 911 call on W. 3rd Street, in Bloomington. According to a statement issued by the police department, the caller stated there was a fight in progress and a male was lying on the ground. When officers arrived they reportedly located a Hispanic man in his 20’s suffering from multiple stab wounds.
He was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital where he was pronounced dead. At this time, the victim has not been positively identified. Officers later located a second victim, also in his 20’s, on a nearby street. Police report that the second victim was also suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to the IU Health Bloomington Hospital in critical condition, but was reportedly ‘uncooperative’ with investigators.
Investigators believe that the victims and the suspects knew each other. The investigation is ongoing and the Bloomington Police Department encourages anyone with information regarding the incident is to contact them.
