Starting today, online sports betting is legal in Indiana. In-person sports betting began in September, with 13 retail locations in Indiana currently allowing it. Now retailers are looking to take advantage of online betting being legal as well. According to the Associated Press, both the Chicago-based Rush Street Interactive and the Boston-based Draftkings will be launching mobile sports wagering apps.
Potential users will have to prove they are at least 21 before using the gambling apps. The apps will also use geofencing technology to ensure that bets are made within Indiana.
Indiana is one of the first Midwest states to legalize sports betting. It is expected to gain many gamblers from out of state, including visitors from Chicago, Cincinnati, and Louisville.
