The City of Bloomington continues to battle the emerald ash borer, an Asian beetle that feeds on ash trees. Last week, the Board of Park Commissioners approved an $11,000 contract with Ellington Tree Service to remove thirteen infested trees.

In the same meeting, the Board approved a 45 thousand dollar contract with Runsdell, Ernsberger and Associates. Parks Director Paula McDevitt said the urban design firm will help a team from the city design several beautification projects for the city’s gateways.
