Indiana’s Department of Child Services has changed the way it awards contracts throughout the state, including the contract that currently benefits the Binkley House in Bloomington. The Binkley House is a short-term residential care and crisis intervention shelter, and it houses as many as 15 youth at any given time. Almost a quarter of the funds that pay for the shelter come from the state, and Kim Meyer, director of the Monroe County Youth Services Bureau, told the County Council last week that money could be in jeopardy.
