The final numbers for attendance for the 2016 Indiana State Fair showed a 20% decrease in attendance from last year. Officials blamed a heat index of near 90 degrees, followed by several continuous days of rain for keeping Hoosiers at home. However, Sunday’s clear weather and comfortable temperatures drew a record-setting 83,000 attendees. The grand total for the 17-day event was 731,000 attendees, down from 907,000 last year. 2015’s Indiana State Fair had the fifth highest attendance on record.
