The City of Bloomington and Monroe County have been awarded a $30,000 grant, in support of law enforcement.

The award comes from the 2018 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant, which is administered by the U.S. Department of Justice. In the Bloomington City Council’s meeting on October 17, City Attorney Mike Rouker said the money could be used to purchase dashboard and body cameras for the Bloomington Police Department.

Rouker said $30,000 awarded to local law enforcement is based on violent crime statistics reported to the F-B-I.
