Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill wants lawmakers to increase his budget by about $5 million.
The republican Attorney General sent two of his deputies to request the increase from the State Budget Committee meeting on Monday.
Hill did not make the request in person, although other top office holders asking for budget increases did, according to an Associated Press report.
The State Budget Committee is gathering input before lawmakers write a new two-year budget, in January.
This is not the first time Attorney General Hill’s spending has raised eyebrows; last year, Hill sparked criticism for spending almost $300,000 to renovate his six-room office, which he shares with aides. Hill also purchased a 15-passenger van with his name written on the side.
Hill has been serving as the Attorney General of Indiana since January, 2017. Earlier this year, he was accused of sexual misconduct by four women, including a legislator. Republicans, including Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, have called for Hill’s resignation. Hill denies the allegations and refuses to step down.
