When the American Society of Cinematographers held their 31st annual awards ceremony in Hollywood in February, the ASC honored the first woman with the prestigious President’s Award: 40-year industry veteran and pioneer, Nancy Schreiber, ASC. Schreiber is the director of photography for Stardust & Moonbeams, a Jazz Age short film shot locally at Farmer House Museum and currently in post-production. She wanted to work on the film because of its much-needed theme and purpose: get women behind the camera making the decisions and creating the images — from production team to story to visuals.
With two Sundance awards, Schreiber is about to begin color grading on Stardust & Moonbeams. The Bloomington production team (Madelyn Ritrosky, Kalynn Brower, Jo Throckmorton) seeks $ for Schreiber and director Terri Farley-Teruel (Beautiful Dreamer) to finish. As part of this campaign — during Women’s History Month — Farmer House will host informal Stardust & Moonbeams receptions 2-4pm on Sunday March 12 and 26. There will be refreshments, some cast and crew members, two Stardust & Moonbeams trailers, clips of Schreiber’s other work, information about other local film projects, and great vintage perks for contributions.
