About the band:
The Cosmic Otters band features Jonathan Whitall of Chicago on fiddle, Meg Dedolph of Chicago on guitar, and Eric Schedler of Bloomington on accordion. From their website (https://thecosmicotters.com):
“We start with a solid rhythmic foundation of guitar and piano, add inventive fiddle harmonies, and finish with juicy, pulsing accordion playing and tasteful percussion.
The tunes are from the British Isles and its relatives – Ireland, England and Scotland with side trips to Cape Breton and Quebec – but definitely our own, with an unshakable drive and playful improvisations that make dancers smile. We play for contra dances, Irish set dances, English country dances, and square dances, in dance halls, in houses, at parties, at house parties.”
About the caller:
Dan Blim is a caller, choreographer, and dancer who lives in Columbus, Ohio, where he teaches music history at Denison University. He loves connecting with the music and connecting with other dancers on the floor, and bringing a sense of humor. Dan has called and taught English Country Dance and Contra Dance at numerous camps, including Pinewoods in MA, Camp Cavell in MI and Cascade of Music & Dance in MD. In addition to dancing, feel free to geek out about musicals, board games, puns, Great British Bake Off, and trivia with him!
