Bike to School is a family-friendly cycling event supporting the Back to School efforts of The Salvation Army and area churches which outfits over 600 Monroe County elementary students with backpacks stuffed with school supplies. Salvation Army staff work closely with MCCSC and RBB school systems to ensure that area children are ready to learn.
There are two routes to best suit you and your family:
10 Mile Family Loop This ride is designed for riders of all ages and skills. You’ll leave from downtown Bloomington and ride south on the B-Line for 5 miles and loop back up. This ride begins at 9am for a helmet fitting, safety video, and route orientation. Map of the 10 mile Family loop.
25 Mile Loop This ride is designed for riders looking for the challenge of Monroe County hills. You’ll leave from downtown Bloomington and ride north into the northern part of the county and loop back downtown. This ride begins at 9am. Map of the 25 mile loop. There is a SAG stop at New Prospect Baptist Church, located just in Dolan, just south of Robinson Rd.
SAG services will cease at noon.
A free lunch will be provided following the ride for participants at The Salvation Army (111 N. Rogers St. Bloomington, IN 47404).
This event is a proud part of the Tour of Bloomington, a national cycling event that if you haven’t seen, this is the year you should attend!
If you can’t ride, volunteers are needed!
