She also wrote a pilot for Jessica Williams at Comedy Central. As an actor, she has appeared on ABC’s SINGLE PARENTS as well as Freeform’s ALONE TOGETHER. Naomi has performed stand-up on LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS as well as the 2 DOPE QUEENS special for HBO. She has also had a half hour special on Comedy Central. Additionally, Naomi co-hosts the popular live show and podcast COUPLES THERAPY.

The City of Bloomington is extending its celebration of community with a Street Fair on Kirkwood Avenue. The Street Fair is an opportunity to use Bloomington’s city streets in new ways: To meet neighbors, find out more about local businesses and organizations, and celebrate our city and its residents. Local businesses and community groups will host displays and interactive activities along Kirkwood Avenue, which will be closed for the Street Fair. Multiple stages will feature music of all kinds, and pop-up performances include poetry readings, dance, and more. Food trucks and Kirkwood Avenue restaurants have plenty of delicious food. Celebrate community and togetherness at the Bloomington Street Fair!

Learn the fascinating history of Brown County during this guided, walking tour through the Village! This tour begins and ends at the Visitors Center and includes the local natural history of the land, peoples, industry, and founding of the art colony. The stroll includes up to five rest stops and progresses from the oldest settlement to the new Visitors Center. Enjoy yarns of the humor and the hardships, as well as the contrast between the rural folks and the artists told by your tour guide. The tour itself is book-ended by two history films shown in the Visitors Center!
Be sure to bring your good walking shoes for the one mile excursion through the Village! Advance reservations are not required. Simply walk in and sign up in the Visitors Center. Holidays and rainy days may affect tour availability. The tours take place weekdays at 1:30 p.m.

Trevor Wade (they/them;The Moth StorySlam winner) mixes tales of misguided affection and botched romance with cutting observations about this divide we’ve erected between “man” and “woman”. Our two breakfasts are always the first Wednesday and the third Friday of the month at 10am. We meet at the Cloverleaf South Restaurant on Winslow at Henderson, behind the IU Credit Union in a shopping center that also has Avers Pizza and a hardware store. Anywhere from 12-25 of us sit at one long table; they just add more chairs and tables as our group grows.

Bloomington Parks and Recreation and the Bloomington Fire Department present Fitness with a Firefighter—a weekly workout. All fitness levels are welcome. Workouts vary, and usually combine cardiovascular and strength training exercises. Modifications are available if needed. Workouts are approximately 30-45 minutes. Registration is not required. The more you hear of Kath Bloom, the more you notice it’s not just the arresting voice, but the power of the songwriting. “Beautiful” is the typical response—the kind of beauty that comes from truth, musical and the deeply lyrical. There are no good comparisons, but if you like the deep well of Emmylou Harris, the more poignant lyrics of Lou Reed, the joy of Joni Mitchell, you’re kinda in the right zone. In reality, she’s simply Kath Bloom: horse whisperer, vocalist, mum, songwriter and a beautiful person.

In a seaside village on the outskirts of an Italian city, where the only law seems to be survival of the fittest, Marcello is a slight, mild-mannered man who divides his days between working at his modest dog-grooming salon, caring for his daughter Alida, and being coerced into the petty criminal schemes of the local bully Simoncino—an ex-boxer who terrorizes the neighborhood. When Simoncino’s abuse finally brings Marcello to a breaking point, he decides to stand up for his own dignity through an act of vengeance, with unintended consequences. Each comedian is asked to do no more than five minutes of completely original material. While we do not care about foul language in your set, we do not allow racist, homophobic or rape/female bashing jokes. If you have to ask if it’s racist, homophobic, or a rape joke, it probably is.

Please join us for a one night Pop Up exhibit featuring the work of Allan Yates. His series, Buddhism in Mongolia, is an on-going documentary project he began in 2013 to examine the role of Buddhism in contemporary Mongolian culture. The exhibit will be on view in the Brick Gallery at the FAR Center for Contemporary Arts, on Friday May 3rd, from 5 – 8 pm. To celebrate this artwork, monks from the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center will be attending and we will be serving Tibetan momo dumplings and milk tea.

Artist Karen Holtzclaw’s paintings keep evolving. A committed artist in the middle of an explosive creative flow, Karen has been putting out a new body of work every six months; each set of paintings following on the one before, each very different. The paintings of Crane Reign take place in Karen’s now familiar imaginary pond, where spring has sprung and a romantic spirit has taken hold. The koi fish from Karen’s last two shows are still there in her current paintings, but two cranes have taken center stage, where they seem to dance and cavort, like Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. It is a dream of love, a celebration of the spirit of love, not untroubled, but beautiful.
