At The I Fell: Pedestrian Deposit – Disconnector – Psychic Eminence @ The I Fell Building 415 W. 4th St
Apr 25 @ 8:00 pm

Reverse tension, abrasive composition. The duo of Shannon A. Kennedy and Jonathan Borges is best described as visceral and narrative; informed by elements of experimental sound, harsh noise, musique concrete, neo-classical, dark ambiance and performance art but is not beholden to any one genre. It is best experienced live and in the moment to understand it’s full scope.

PD maintains an adherence to personal integrity and independence — both with live appearances and recordings, which are issued through Monorail Trespassing, the record label Borges has operated for nearly 20 years. Their refusal to play into the corporate re-structuring of the music underground remains a consistent mindset.

Instrumentation consists of physically activated, sculptural instruments made of wood, metal, strings and springs, and gutter electronics.

More info about Pedestrian Deposit here.

D/SC_\\ECT_R is Joshua Schnable working audio into ambient drones via computer, with video projection accompaniment.

More info about Disconnector here.

Psychic Eminence is the duo of Adam Sommer and Ben Myers, an alternate timeline to Lather Sommer Duo in which the purpose is freedom and release rather than tension and turmoil.

HiStory Book Club
Apirl 27, 1:00 to 2:30 pm

The HiStory Book Club continues their 2019 reading list with Mixed Marriage: A Memoir. Remember the book club welcomes everyone, whether they have completed the book or not!

It was the sixties. Everything was changing. People were demanding freedom of every kind. Freedom from racism, from the war in Vietnam, from sexism, from police brutality, from college courses that ignored the achievements of everyone except those of European descent. So, why not, also, the freedom to marry whomever you choose? In 1965, before the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the ban on mixed marriages was unconstitutional, in many states it was a crime to marry “outside your race.” And less than 1% of Americans chose to commit that crime. This is the story of how author Janet Cheatham Bell came to defy that ridiculous law.

“It’s hard to understate the dynamic presence Sharon Udoh has become within the Columbus creative community since she moved up from Cincinnati in 2009 and began performing music here under the name Counterfeit Madison. The Nigerian-American renaissance woman has since joined forces with a zillion bands and provided every last one of them with a jolt of electricity, usually via deeply intoned shouts and bellows from the pit of her soul and/or combustible piano mad science combining jazz, classical, gospel, rock, and seemingly every other musical fiber in the universe. Regardless of the context, she is a force of nature. But nothing captures her essence like her own solo material, an inspired convergence of influences and impulses that truly sounds like nothing else.”

Queer Comedy Show w/Trevor Wade @ The Back Door, 207 South College Ave.,around back in the alley
Apr 30 @ 7:00 pm

Local comedian Jenna Bradley will be opening.  Clownfish (“Best of Fringe”, Nugget Fringe) is an hour of comedy and storytelling exploring sex, gender, identity, and other black-and-white topics. Trevor Wade (they/them;The Moth StorySlam winner) mixes tales of misguided affection and botched romance with cutting observations about this divide we’ve erected between “man” and “woman”. If you’ve ever felt like you didn’t fit in the boxes, if your option was not listed on the drop-down menu, if you want to learn more about this national conversation we’re having about gender, if you know what all the letters in LGBTQIA stand for, if you had no idea we were up to that many letters, if you’re open to a new point of view, if you want to trick a bigot, if you’re looking for a unicorn, come see this show. It’s honest as all get-out, glam as Hell, as weird as America, and also happens to rhyme. I promise not to disappoint (unless you’re my dad).
