Jun 21 @ 3:30 pm
The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter hosts support groups across the state for unpaid care partners, family members and friends of individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Support groups are free and designed to provide emotional, educational and social support for caregivers. Attendees will develop coping methods, encourage self-care, learn about community resources and optimize care techniques. While sharing personal experiences is encouraged, it is not required.
“Caregivers face a variety of unique challenges, but they are not alone on this journey,” said Denise Saxman, Program Director. “The Alzheimer’s Association is here to help. Through these groups, we hope to connect families not only to our care and support services, but to a larger network of families facing similar situations.”

Today, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease, including 110,000 Hoosiers. Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Bean Blossom Farmers’ Market, St. David’s Episcopal Church, SR 135 and SR 45, Bean Blossom, Indiana
Jun 23 @ 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The Farmers’ Market, held each Friday at St. David’s afternoon/evening – May through September; provides a venue for local farmers to sell fresh produce/meat, an opportunity for local artisans to sell their handmade creations and a wonderful location for area musicians to display their talents.

A special booth is reserved each week at the market for a local outreach/non-profit to highlight their community programs at no cost to the agency.  The Children’s Garden and Playground, a dream of the Outreach Committee, offers children of both customers and vendors an opportunity to play in a safe and fun environment.

The Bean Blossom Farmers’ Market began on the grounds of St. David’s Church in 2013 as a community outreach program to encourage healthy produce and food consumption for the community and provide a venue for local musicians and crafts people.

The Farmers’ Market Advisory Committee is the steering committee made up of members from St. David’s and two vendors from the market.  This committee guides the operation of the market, prepares marketing and advertising and supports the St. David’s food booth.

Reception for A Dynamic Duo, The Venue Fine Art & Gifts, 114 S. Grant, Bloomington, IN
Jun 23 @ 6:00 pm

Reception and encore exhibition of relief limestone carvings by Sidney Bolam, and paintings by Mark Blaney.

Sidney Bolam creates limestone carvings, inspired by nature.  Her pieces range in size and complexity from simple carved stones to ornate and intricate scenes. All are practically portable, without a truck or crane.

Paired at The Venue with Sidney is Mark Blaney, an artist who arrived in Bloomington and has made it his home. And it is a perfect fit. Mark’s paintings are a treat for the eye and manifest his appreciation of nature and people. Each piece has a back story that invites viewers to use their best thinking, to connect and derive the full import of the piece, or better still, to create their own narrative.

An hour of quiet reflection for all.

You are invited to make change through your presence in silence with others. Our silence together will be interspersed with the calming sounds of crystal bowls by Janiece Jaffe. Bring a cushion, yoga mat, prayer rug or simply take a seat. This is a safe place for all people to come together in self-reflection, prayer, or meditation.

You can sign up for e-mail updates at [email protected].

Doors will open 30 minutes before start time.

Jeff White, Professor of Environmental Science at SPEA, will present at talk entitled “An Update on the Climate Change Dilemma from the Perspective of an Environmental Scientist”. Climate change has been and will likely continue to be a defining issue of our time.  The topic has become so politicized that it is difficult to decipher the status of the science from the amplified political noise that currently engulfs it. White will provide a brief update of the science. He will also touch on several aspects of the changing political landscape that affects the advancement of the science, which is essential to development of smart policy.

Immediately following White’s presentation members of Citizens’ Climate Lobby will hold a letter writing party for Green Drinks participants who would like to help build the political will for a stable climate.

Green Drinks Bloomington is a lively, informal social networking event for people from all walks of life who are interested in making a greener world.  Folks gather every month to share libations and ideas, discuss, debate, explore and make new friends and business connections.

Bean Blossom Farmers’ Market, St. David’s Episcopal Church, SR 135 and SR 45, Bean Blossom, Indiana
Jun 30 @ 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

In As Bad As They, Jordan Ternin tries to decipher the fine line between her impulses to help and control after her brother Caleb decides to quit using. This play is set in present-day Bloomington, Indiana—in the midst of the Midwest’s opioid-heroin epidemic. The play begins with the estranged lives of Caleb and Jordan. The siblings are reunited on the most dangerous day for an addict, the day he’s released from state custody. On this day the dosage that Caleb handled comfortably two weeks before could cause his death. Starring William McHenry, Janelle Beasley, Michael Barton, Charlie Jones, Miles Grimmer, Cody St. Clair, Natalie Bainter, Courtney Foster, Kim Naeseth, and Brandon Schaaf. Music by Jon Meador, Costumes by Morgan Eldridge, Props by Wendy Lee Spacek, Sets by Alan Crenshaw, and Lighting by Bella Bravo A benefit for Courage to Change, a peer-run, sober-living and low-barrier halfway house in Bloomington, Indiana. As of 2015, about 1 in 37 adults in the US were under some form of state correctional supervision like jail, probation, parole or house arrest. These are common penalties and pretrial conditions for people dealing with drug offenses. From 2007 to 2015, the correctional population declined by more than half a million people. Who knows what the future holds. So for everyone who can’t get out that night, the play will stream live on this website.

Relationship Coffee – Direct Trade: Our current direct trade coffees are from El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Our collaborative relationships with these farmers ensure environmental, economical, and social sustainability, resulting in the production of the highest quality coffee.

Fair Trade CertifiedTM: Your everyday purchases, like your daily cup of coffee, can help farmers get better prices to help them keep their kids in school and protect fragile ecosystems.

Helping Others: Always trying to help the community, our coffee grounds are donated to local gardening groups and farmers. We also make an annual donation to help fund the Comedor Children’s Lunch Program in Posoltega, Nicaragua, which is organized and run by  Bloomington & Posoltega Sister Cities.
