Bloomington City Council Delays Transportation Plan

Play

Bloomington’s Common Council is extending their review of the city’s Transportation Plan, beyond the end of the month.

The City Council initially set a deadline of next Wednesday, Feb. 13, for amending the Transportation Plan. Council members stated their goal was to adopt the transportation plan by the end of the month. But last night, council members said the plan needs more work.

City Council members agreed to give Council President Dave Rollo the leeway to announce new amendment deadlines and hearing dates by the end of this month.

Multimodal transportation is emphasized throughout the plan, which includes a proposed ‘high-priority’ bike network. The Bloomington transportation plan calls for bicycle connections to be added to existing neighborhoods wherever possible, and would require bike connections in new developments.

Members of the public require a city council member to sponsor their amendment for it to be considered. You can review the draft transportation plan through a link on the city council’s web page. That address can be found here.
