In today’s Eco Feature, Mary Hess, president of Southwestern Indiana Citizens for Quality of Life, talks about community resistance in Dale, Indiana, against a proposed coal to diesel plant in her town. Spencer County is already one of the most polluted counties in the country.

After they found out that a coal-to-diesel plant is being planned to open in their town, residents of Dale, Indiana organized. They came together and founded the grassroots Southwestern Indiana Citizens for Quality of Life, with the help of the environmental advocacy organization Valley watch in Evansville.
