Herald-Times Sold to NY Publisher

The Herald-Times is among eight Indiana newspapers sold to Gatehouse Media. South-Bend based Schurz Communications Inc. purchased The Herald-Times, in 1966. Scott Schurz addressed members of the Bloomington-based newspaper this morning, at 9 a.m. The former publisher, along with departing Editor Bob Zaltsberg announced the paper, along with other holdings of Schurz Communications’ publishing division, will be sold Friday. Area Newspapers Cut Jobs

The Hoosier Times, a media group which owns several prominent publications in WFHB’s listening area, is cutting 17 jobs at local papers. The Herald-Times of Bloomington’s Managing Editor Bob Zaltsberg made the announcement, in today’s edition. Indiana University Health hospitals in Southern Indiana are lifting visitor restricts, as the number of influenza cases levels out.
