Play

From his days as one of the greatest football players in Indiana University history to his work as a youth mentor and local pastor, Anthony Thompson has been both a role model and leader in the IU-Bloomington community. Host William Morris talks with Anthony about his experiences both on the gridiron and in the community. In the first segment, Anthony speaks about his upbringing as one of seven children in a single parent home, including how football started to shape his life from an early age, and his success on both the high school and Indiana University gridiron. In the second segment, Anthony shares some of his memories as a Heisman Trophy candidate and All-American athlete and reflects on his transition from athlete to coach to youth mentor. Anthony talks about some of the lives he has been able to affect and shape. The third segment includes some of Anthony’s thoughts about the late IU coach Terry Hoeppner, his friendship with the late NFL great Walter Peyton, and his views on some of the challenges confronting young people today.
