As Bloomington continues to grow, so does the tension between development and wildlife. WildCare is a local non-profit caring for sick, injured and orphaned animals – almost always a result of a run-in with humans and their pets. Licensed wildlife rehabilitator Sarah Maddox and former WildCare director Jules Erwin say there are THREE things you can do to avoid causing harm to critters:
1) Drive carefully – vehicle collisions are the most common cause!
2) Keep your cat indoors and your dog on a leash – pet attacks are another big one.
3) Resist the urge to toss food out your car window – this draws animals to the roadway and disrupts their natural diet.
