You’re listening to WFHB Rewind, where we bring you highlights from the week – and sometimes hidden gems you might have missed. Stay with us for a blend of thoughtful storytelling, vibrant interviews, and the unexpected moments that bring our airwaves to life.
Featured Segments:
- In November of 2024, WFHB’s Youth Radio and News departments teamed up to conduct interviews at IU’s First Thursdays Festival on November 7th. We asked several questions including what you can tell us about the history of Thanksgiving and how you will be celebrating the holiday. Voices in the Street: Thanksgiving Edition from 2024 is coming up next on Rewind.
- In November 2013, WFHB’s Daily Local News ran five-part news feature series Around the Table, exploring the Thanksgiving traditions and culture around Bloomington, Indiana. Today’s archive segment comes from episode four, “Activism and Giving,” in which correspondent Nash Hott interviewed representatives from different local charities about their work, food insecurity, and homelessness in South Central Indiana. In these clips, Nash talks with Julio Alonso, executive director of Hoosier Hills Food Bank, and Forrest Gilmore, executive director of Shalom Center. After these excerpts, Maria McKinley introduces a special Thanksgiving edition of Voices in the Street in which people discuss their community involvement. Around the Table was produced by Nick Tumino and Nash Hott. Executive producer was Alycin Bektesh. This segment was repackaged and repurposed by WFHB Volunteer Adriane Pontecorvo.
- Last year, WFHB News and Limestone Post magazine looked into food insecurity in Bloomington and Monroe County. WFHB did a four-part series on the topic through our Deep Dive collaboration with the Limestone Post. In today’s episode of Rewind, we take a look back at that report.
- Up next – from the music department – we had the pleasure of welcoming Advance Base into the Firehouse on July 31, 2025, just a few hours before his show that night at The Bishop. We now turn to that Firehouse Session on Rewind.
