This is the WFHB Local News for Tuesday, July 8th, 2025.
That’s IU basketball game announcer Jeremy Gray, calling on local fans to rally around new coach Darian DeVries. Gray and another IU expert speculate on what DeVries can do with the men’s basketball program later in the show in a feature report.
Also coming up in the next half hour, we have another installment of Lil Bub’s Lil Show – a co-production between WFHB and Lil Bub’s Big Fund.
But first, today’s feature:

In March Indiana University hired a new basketball coach. Darian DeVries is the 31st head coach of the IU Men’s Basketball program – a program that in many ways is starting over from scratch. In June DeVries hired eight new support staff members ahead of the 2025 season. Who is Darian DeVries, and what can we expect? Correspondent Trevor Donley talks with an expert and IU’s game announcer in a feature report produced in partnership with The Media School at Indiana University.

Up next, WFHB Arts Correspondent Cindy Beaule interviews Joshua Joy, who is a speaker at Summer Chorus, an event taking place at 8 p.m. on July 11th at Auer Hall. The event will be a demonstration of the sacred harp featuring Walter Huff as conductor. The focus of the show is “The World of William Billings,” the American composer. This interview aired live earlier today on the WFHB Afternoon Music Mix. For more, we turn to Correspondent Cindy Beaule.
Up next, Lil Bub’s Lil Show – a co-production between Lil Bub’s Big Fund and WFHB. We turn now to that segment on the WFHB Local News.
