Monroe County Board of Commissioners
On Wednesday, July 10th, 2024, the Monroe County Board of Commissioners set out to discuss a contract with Proactive M-D for Clinic Services. County Personnel Administrator Elizabeth Sensenstein presented information regarding the monthly and yearly cost.
Sensenstein then proceeded to talk about what services will stay the same, what services will change, and new and improved services regarding this contract.
Commissioners’ Administrator Angelie Purdie and Commissioner President Julie Thomas then chimed in, asking for clarification on what Sensenstein was saying.
Sensenstein wrapped up by commenting on the improvements that will be made in regards to communications, saying that “The technology is above and beyond what we are currently experiencing… the website, the app, and even just communications when people are calling in are going to be much better.”
The Monroe County Commissioners approved of the contract unanimously.
In addition to this, Fleet and Building Manager Richard Crider, made some requests in relation to improving the Community Convention Center. He began by discussing a proposal submission by H-F-I.
This motion was approved unanimously.
Next, he brought forth a proposal submitted for the Community Center by King Contracting L-L-C.
The commissioners approved this request unanimously as well.
The next Monroe County Commissioners meeting will be held on July 17th.
Bloomington Redevelopment Commission
On Monday, the Bloomington Redevelopment Commission gave the green light for several projects in the Hopewell neighborhood. The redevelopment commission allocated over 300,000 dollars during Monday’s meeting for demolition, design work, power relocation and lighting.
According to the city’s webpage, the Hopewell project will be the result of the new neighborhood to be created following the demolition of the former IU Health hospital on Second Street. The city’s redevelopment commission first heard a change order with Renascent Inc. for demolition. Senior Vice President for J.S. Held Deb Kunce walked through the resolution.
Board Member Randy Cassady asked whether there were any change orders left on the demolition. Kunce replied that this would be the last change order.
Then, the Commission heard a resolution for approval of a grant for the Hopewell project. Project Engineer for the City Kendall Knocke introduced the resolution.
Next, Knocke delivered a resolution of an amended preliminary design contract for Hopewell West.
Senior Project Manager for the City’s Engineering Department Roy Aten provided background on power relocation with Duke Energy for Hopewell West.
Another Commission Member inquired whether Duke Energy’s estimate is a final number. Aten responded.
The city’s redevelopment commission approved all four Hopewell contracts, which also included an agreement with Duke Energy for lighting on First Street. The Bloomington Redevelopment Commission will have its next meeting on August 5th.
