This is the WFHB Local News for Monday, January 5th, 2026.

In today’s newscast, WFHB’s Youth Radio teamed up with the News Department for their journalism-focused day during their Winter Camp last week. The camp culminated into a final feature focusing on food insecurity in Monroe County – what it looks like locally, who it affects and how community groups are responding.

Also, stay tuned for an excerpt of our reporting on food insecurity from our investigative news series, Deep Dive: WFHB and Limestone Post Investigate.

Featured Segments:

Hunger isn’t always visible – and in Monroe County, it affects more people than many realize. During last week’s WFHB Youth Radio Winter Camp, young reporters spent a day working with the News Department to better understand food insecurity in our community. Here’s their reporting.

Up next, we look back at an excerpt from Deep Dive: WFHB and Limestone Post Investigate where we look into issues regarding Health, Housing, and the Environment that directly impact residents of Monroe County. This excerpt follows our coverage on Food Insecurity in Monroe and Brown Counties. That’s coming up next on the local news: a year in review.
