February marks Black History Month. The city has various events planned to commemorate the historic month. WFHB’s black affairs program, Bring It On, talked to city organizers about Black History Month events in Bloomington.
Secondly, we have an excerpt from the City of Bloomington’s Black History Month Kickoff from January 30th. The theme for the month is titled “Black and Blooming” and seeks, “to acknowledge and honor up-and-coming Black leaders, visionaries, and changemakers who are blazing trails and leaving their mark on our city, state and country.”
There also features an excerpt from WFHB Producer Clarence Boone’s interview with Dr. Melina Abdullah, a pinnacle member in the founding of Black Lives Matter.
