The Bloomington City Council approved the city’s first Sustainability Action Plan last night. The plan includes goals covering eight focus areas, including climate change, energy, transportation, local food, waste and water.

The new plan was lauded by council members. The city’s assistant director of sustainability Autumn Salamack said the plan was created with direct input from the community.

The council went on to approve three bonds that together would fund ten million dollars in parks projects. The bonds will be paid for through a property tax increase.
