Costs Rise in Cleanup of Griffy Treatment Plant

The Utilities Board approved a $161,000 amendment to its contract with VET Environmental Engineering for cleanup of the Griffy Lake water treatment plant. It is the fifth amendment to the VET contract for mercury clean up at the decommissioned plant. Environmental Cleanup Continues at Griffy Lake Treatment Plant

The City of Bloomington continues the environmental cleanup of its decommissioned Griffy Lake water treatment plant. Last night, the Bloomington Utilities Service Board approved extending its contract with VET Environmental Engineering for the cleanup. The City decommissioned the Griffy Lake water treatment plant in the 1990’s. The cleanup efforts originally began with asbestos removal. In 2017, the Utilities Department undertook …
