Cases of Hepatitis A on the Rise

Reported cases of Hepatitis A are on the rise throughout Southern Indiana, including Lawrence county. Monroe County Health Commissioner Penny Caudill said the increase in the reported cases of the fecal-oral disease mimics a wider outbreak across the country. Fatal Overdoses Decrease in Monroe County, Rise Elsewhere Across State

Rev. Forrest Gilmore said the Shalom Community Center’s organization is seeing a reduction in overdose deaths among clients, this year. Gilmore attributes the decline in opioid related deaths to expanded opioid addiction treatment options, and increased homelessness services. Monroe County Accepts Grant Money; Plans for Unexpected

Last week the Monroe County Commissioners accepted more than $15,000 in grant funding for the county’s Futures Family Planning Clinic. The money comes from the Indiana Family Health Council. The Futures clinic provides family planning services on a sliding fee scale.
