Bloomington, Local Agencies Support Hate Crimes Bill

Area service providers in Bloomington signed a letter, supporting a state-wide push to pass hate crimes legislation, this morning. Indiana is one of five states without state hate crimes laws. Gov to Push Hate Crimes Law at State of the State

Rep. (D-Bloomington) Matt Pierce was on Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb’s Study Committee on Corrections and Criminal Code, which was directed to look into passing hate crimes legislation. Gov. Fed Shutdown Cuts Off Food Stamps

On Friday,  585,000 food stamp beneficiaries in Indiana were told they will not receive food stamps next month. The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration announced they will be distributing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits early this month.
