Spencer Pride Offers Banned Book Club to Embrace Unrestricted Reading

Over three years ago, Spencer Pride began it’s Banned Book Club, which was founded by member, Julie Parmenter. The group meets the fourth Thursday of every month to discuss books that have been banned or discussed of getting banned in red states. These books entail of historic biographies like The Diary of Anne Frank by Anne Frank or 1984 by George Orwell. The group finds power within reading about different perspectives. Many of the books being targeted by book ban policies tell the stories of minorities and the LGBTQ+.
