On today’s edition of Bring It On!, hosts, Clarence Boone and Liz Mitchell speak the playwrights and directors of the 2022 OnyxFest, who are:

  • Celeste Williams is the writer of “Black Is My Color”. The directors are TaMara E’Lan G. and Manón Voice;
  • Michael Florence is the writer of “Houseless Not Homeless”. The director is Eric Washington;
  • Charla Booth is the writer of “Majesties”. The director is Dena Toler;
  • Gabrielle Patterson is the writer and director of “Your Love Will Be Judged”;
  • Rain Wilson is the writer and the director of “Police State,” and finally;
  • Vernon A. Williams, executive producer of OnyxFest, is the writer of “A Noise in the Attic”. The director is Debora Farrell.


OnyxFest is Indy’s first and only theater festival dedicated to the stories of Black playwrights. OnyxFest is presented by the Africana Repertory Theatre of IUPUI (A.R.T.I.), IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI, IU School of Education at IUPUI, and the IUPUI Office of Community Engagement in partnership with IndyFringe. The first week’s productions will be at the IndyFringe Basile Theatre (November 3-6) and the second week at the IUPUI Campus Center Theatre (November 10-12).
