The Kinsey Institute, housed on Indiana University’s campus, is home to the world’s largest public research collection dedicated to human sexuality. Its vast archives span more than 2,000 years of history. The Institute’s latest exhibition, Universal Language: The Legacy of Sexual and Gender Diversity in the Kinsey Institute Collections, offers a powerful look at the enduring presence of sexual and gender diversity throughout human culture. Exhibition curator Rebecca Fasman shares insights into the rare and fascinating materials on display, revealing how these artifacts highlight the deep-rooted and universal nature of diverse expressions of identity across time.

Universal Language will be available to view by appointment in Lindley Hall until June 30, 2025. It’s open every week, 9:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Appointments to visit the exhibition can be made by contacting [email protected].
