Yellowwood Timber Sale

Play

Three thousand trees in Yellowwood and Morgan-Monroe State Forests went up for sale today. The Indiana Division of Forestry opened up its Yellowwood State Forest Office at 9 am this morning for the timber sale. Earlier this month Monroe County commissioners passed a resolution urging that the backcountry areas of those same forests be protected from commercial logging. Today’s timber sale will not affect the backcountry, but will take place on 300 acres around Lanam Ridge Road and Bruce Road. WFHB correspondent Pam Raider went on-location to take you behind the scenes of the auction. We’ll hear from loggers bidding on trees, environmental activists Rhonda Baird and David Haberman of the Indiana Forest Alliance, and we start with Pam’s interview with Jim Allen, property manager at Yellowwood State Forest, in this WFHB exclusive.
