At the Bloomington Utilities Service Board meeting on May 23rd, Board Member Megan Parmenter asked for more information about the security fee for at the Dillman Waste Water Treatment Plant.

Director Utilities Vic Kelson responded to her question explaining that they pay Bruce Wilds Security to monitor incoming traffic at the plant.

Board Member Kirk White asked if the service will be automated in the future.

Kelson said that an automatic system is in the works, and this position is temporary.

Kelson added that the reason they have decided to have a guard at the gate is due to warnings from Homeland Security and American Water Works Association.

The board unanimously approved the contract with Bruce Wilds Security, set not to exceed $24,480.
