Good afternoon. Welcome to your WFHB Local News Brief for Thursday, March 26th, 2020.

As of March 25th at 11:59 p.m., Indiana State Department of Health reported 645 total positive cases of coronavirus. 17 people died from Covid-19 in Indiana. This is out of 4,651 people tested.

There are six reported cases in Monroe County, 7 cases in Morgan County, 4 in Owen County 1 in Brown County and 2 cases in Lawrence County.

Up next, for National Affairs, the U.S. Senate passed a $2 trillion relief package. The New York Times reports that lawmakers unanimously approved the aid measure Wednesday that would send direct payments of $1,200 to Americans earning up to $75,000 per year. It would also expand help for the jobless, and provide hundreds of billions of dollars in loans to businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi endorsed the relief package, and she plans to push it through the House on Friday, according to the NYT.

Monroe County announced it temporarily closed its parks due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Karst Farm Park, Will Detmer Park, Flatwoods Park and Jackson Creek Park will not be available to the public.

The county parks department said, “we apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.”

The future can only tell when the parks will be reopened.
