That’s Liz Barnhart from Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, a local food pantry that has grown into so much more as they fight to reduce Bloomington’s seventeen percent food insecurity rate. The national rate is ten point two percent. More from Barnhart later in the show on a new episode of Activate!, featuring real people working for positive change in our community.

Monroe County Community School Corporation School Board Discusses School Safety and Inclusivity

The Monroe County Community School Corporation Board met on March 28th. During public comment Reva Doliana asked the board to focus on safety at their schools in light of the most recent school shooting.

Next, Bloomington North High School student Sam Clark addressed the board about LGBTQ+ treatment in the schools.

Later, the board voted on a resolution to recommit to serve LGBTQIA+ students to ensure they have an inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment.

Vice-President of the Board April Hennessey spoke in support of the resolution.

The resolution passed unanimously.

The next MCCSC board meeting will be held on April 25th.
