WFHB Historian & Archivist Jan Walker

WFHB has been on the air for more than a quarter of a century, offering music, news, and conversation 24 hours a day to listeners in Bloomington and surrounding counties. Stashed here and there in the station’s Waldron Center headquarters are thousands of pieces of memorabilia: newspaper clippings, awards, magazine articles, proclamations, reel-to-reel audiotapes, videos of live performances and much more. Jan Walker has initiated an herculean effort to collect and catalogue all these pieces. Just as important, she’s conducting oral history interviews with past and present WFHB administration staffers, deejays, program hosts, producers, desk jockeys, and anyone else who’s ever been connected with Bloomington’s community radio station.

[This episode aired Thursday, May 28, 2020.]
