The Bloomington Common Council continued its review of the revised Transportation Plan last week.
Chapter Three of the plan proposes changing existing street uses to help develop an ‘urban grid.’ Planning Services Manager Beth Rosenbarger said developing the grid would allow the city to address its larger connectivity needs over time.
In some instances, the revised transportation plan calls for upgrading neighborhood streets to carry more traffic, including expanding N. Maple and Fairview Sts. Council members Dave Rollo and Isabel Piedmont-Smith called into question the viability of a North Maple-Fairview connector, and encouraged area residents to comment on the proposal before the February 13 deadline.
The next meeting of the Bloomington Common Council is scheduled for Wednesday, February 6.
